Sue Smith has sent us this recommendation:

“Regarding dog friendly pubs, we found the Blacksmiths Arms, Main Street, Naburn (near York) very accommodating.  There are some lovely walks nearby and the pub is located a few yards from the River Ouse.

The pub has its own Dog Bar with fresh water and bowls and dog treats in return for a donation to The Dogs Trust charity.  Dogs are welcome in the Beer Garden and most areas in the pub, with the exception of the main dining area.

The pub serves lovely meals and even serves breakfast.  If you want to check it out their website is www.blacksmithsarmsnaburn.co.uk.

We have visited on days out and have also had a long weekend at Naburn Lock Caravan Park which is dog friendly.  The caravan park is within easy walking distance of the pub.  Our German Shepherd, Millie, had a wonderful time and enjoyed her walks along the riverbanks and across the lock and I don’t know whether it was our daughter or Millie who had the most fun paddling in the river.”
