Welcome to our second newsletter with details of our next couple of events following on from the well received Veterans Weekend Dog Show.  Our thanks go to our colleagues in Pet Respect for organising this and running it on the day.

The show proved popular with dog owners and the general public who particularly enjoyed watching the fun classes.  However, the noise of the event especially with periods of gunfire, etc was a deterrent to owners who have dogs sensitive to such and therefore if our members would like another dog show next year we will organise for a separate day to other activities.

Our membership is still growing steadily and we now have about 60 members.  If you know of anyone who has not already joined then forms are available on the table in the Pavilion Cafe .

At long last we have a secure Post Box mounted on the wall in the Pavilion Café (adjacent to the kitchen entrance) so people can now leave membership forms/money, suggestions and any other correspondence for us.  Apologies for the delay but unfortunately the Amazon firms kept sending one with a motif on when we ideally wanted a plain one and in the end I got fed up of sending them back!

You may have seen our ‘pop-up’ gazebo which we have purchased for the group to use at events (sale price of course!).  We had some tables loaned from Cliff and have been given a couple of large wooden tables from the East Park Baptist Church which has closed.  So we are now fully equipped.

We held a tombola at the Veterans Weekend and also sold bags of dog treats which proved popular.  We raised just over £100 which wasn’t bad considering we were away from the main area and competing with all the other groups at the weekend.  Our thanks go to those members who came along to support us and even volunteered to look after the stall so we could have a break to walk around the events.  This is most helpful and even a half hour break is welcome!

At the next meeting we will discuss when we will put out another tombola.  So please bring any spare items you have for prizes to the meeting.

We also thought it would be nice to have a raffle at Christmas for a hamper of dog goodies so again if you could donate anything it would help raise funds.

Speaking so early of Christmas, would members like to meet up for a meal at Margot’s café?  Again further discussion on this will take place at the meeting.
